Customer comments on building a 3m x 6m Keder Kit

Canterbury

Client

Background
A passionate gardener recently undertook the challenge of installing a Keder Greenhouse in Canterbury. This case study highlights the process, challenges, and satisfaction derived from assembling and using the 3m x 6m Keder Greenhouse.

Installation Process
The entire installation took about three full days, with the first day dedicated to erecting the frame, the second to covering it with the Keder material, and the third to completing the remaining tasks. "I completed 85% on my own; the remaining 15% needed two people (or, at one point, four)," the gardener noted.

The site had a slight slope, requiring some initial work to achieve a reasonably level base by cutting slightly into the slope at one end. Once leveled, the frame assembly went smoothly. However, fitting the Keder material proved challenging, particularly over one span with an automatic vent. Despite this, everything eventually worked out fine.

Specific Comments on the Instructions
1. Para 5.1 Offsetting the rods at 22o: Care needs to be taken to keep the frame horizontal. It is easy to pull the frame slightly out of alignment, potentially causing issues with fitting the Keder material.
2. Para 10.1: The two-sided nuts/bolts (item 32) are attached to the L-shaped plates, not separate, which was initially confusing.
3. Para 20.6 Cutting the rear vent: Improved instructions suggested cutting near the battens on the vent and frame to maintain a draught strip all around.
4. Para 21.3: The L-shaped plate for the roof vent is in the box with the vent and has two holes drilled in it, unlike the others with only one hole.
5. Para 26.2 Fixing the slats: The gardener attached the L-shaped plate to the rear of the slats themselves, allowing easy removal without the slats slipping off.

Weather Conditions
The construction days were warm and still, which was beneficial for solo work. Windier conditions would have made the task much more difficult.

Results and Reflections
The gardener was delighted with the result, both in the finished product and the satisfaction of putting it together. "I spend a lot of my time at a desk, so doing something physical for a change was very satisfying," they explained.

Additional Features
The gardener installed a couple of raised beds within the greenhouse and attempted to install a solar-powered watering system, though this is still a work in progress.

Community Engagement
The gardener extended an invitation to anyone in the Canterbury area considering a Keder Greenhouse to visit and see theirs firsthand.

Conclusion
The Keder Greenhouse project in Canterbury was a rewarding experience, combining physical work with the pleasure of gardening. Despite some challenges during installation, the end result was highly satisfactory. The gardener's willingness to share their experience with others in the area reflects their satisfaction and confidence in the Keder Greenhouse product.
